A young woman named Evelina Joyce has gotten off to a horrible start in her small racing stable, and very soon after it begins, Brazen Stables looks like it's going bankrupt. Never one to go down without a fight, Lina takes one last shot at the moon and sells most of her broodmare herd to pay for a breeding to the champion Curlin and the costs related to raising and training the resulting foal. Said resulting foal is a big russet filly Lina names Phoenix in hopes that she will lift Brazen Stables from the ashes. |
